Under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate in terms of compensation, conditions, or privileges of employment because of pregnancy. An employee disabled by pregnancy is entitled to up to 16 weeks of disability leave.  After a pregnancy disability leave, an employer must return the affected employee to the same position. Nissan Recall

Nissan is recalling more than 242,000 Pathfinders, Frontiers and Xterra vehicles because the airbags might not deploy in a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  Model year 2005-2009 vehicles that were originally sold or are currently registered in CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, or the DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA are affected by the recall. House Passes Equal Pay Bill

The House of Representatives just passed legislation to assure that employers are held responsible for their four-decade-old obligation to provide equal pay for equal work. The bill makes clear that women who are victims of gender-based discrimination can sue for compensatory and punitive damage. Also today, the House will also vote on a bill in response to a Supreme Court decision that workers must file a discrimination claim within 180 days of a pay violation. Many workers who don’t find out about wage disparities for years are left without recourse under the current case law. Child Safety Seat Recall

Britax is recalling more than 31,000 child safety seats that may not properly secure children in the event of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).   The harness straps of the child seat may detach from the metal yoke on the back of the child restraint if repeatedly loosened one strap at a time.
