| General Motors is recalling 1,497,516 vehicles because of the risk of an engine compartment fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recalled vehicles are the 1997-2003 Buick Regal; the 1998-2003 Chevrolet Lumina, Monte Carlo and Impala; the 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue; and the 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 3.8L V6 naturally aspirated engine.
The recalled vehicles may allow engine oil to be deposited on the exhaust manifold during hard braking. If the oil runs below the heat shield on a hot manifold, a fire may start, NHTSA said. |
