November 2, 2009 –According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defect Investigations (ODI), General Motors is recalling the following passenger vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada and Texas: Chevrolet Cobalt Model Year (MY) 2006-2007, Pontiac G5 MY 2007, and Saturn Ion MY 2006-2007. The plastic supply or return port on the modular reservoir assembly may crack. If either of these ports develops a crack, fuel will leak from the area. These vehicles are equipped with rear wheel drive, and may have been built without a front wheel spindle nut. While driving, the lack of this nut could cause a tire and wheel separation, increasing the risk of crash. November 2, 2009 – A small private plane made an emergency landing on Highway 78 Friday night, about 10 miles south of Julian, blocking all traffic in both directions. The pilot of a Cessna 172 reported engine problems shortly before the landing which happened around 7:45 p.m. on SR-78, one mile east of San Felipe Road. There have been no reports of damage to the plane or injuries. One person was reported aboard the plane.

November 2, 2009 – David Flores Barraza Jr., 49, of Riverside died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car this weekend in Temecula, according to the Riverside County coroner. The collision occurred about 2:40 Sunday on southbound Pala Temecula Road approximately a mile south of Rancho Heights Road. Barraza was transported to a high school football field at 32555 Deer Hollow Way in Temecula to be airlifted but died prior to transportation, police said.

November 2, 2009 – A 43-year-old woman was suffered numerous leg and facial fractures shortly before midnight Saturday when she walked into the path of a of a vehicle traveling west on Ocean View Boulevard in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, police said. The driver fled in what was described as a black Nissan Altima with tinted rear windows. Part of the left side mirror is missing.

November 2, 2009 – A 33-year-old woman was killed and a 30-year-old man seriously injured Sunday afternoon after they crossed Hazard Center Drive and they were both struck by a car, San Diego police said. The two had attended Sunday’s Chargers game and were walking across Hazard Center near Frazee Road at about 4 p.m. when they were hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old woman, police said. The motorist was unable to avoid the couple, who apparently crossed the road illegally, police said. Both pedestrians were trapped under the vehicle, said San Diego Police Officer Jane Jacobsen.
