November 5, 2009 – Two men have been struck and killed by a freight train in Orange County.
Police say the men were on the tracks in Fullerton shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when they were struck.
Their identities were not immediately released.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokeswoman Lena Kent says the train was heading from Los Angeles to New York.
She says the engineer probably couldn’t have prevented the accident because it was doing about 50 mph and would have needed a mile to stop.
She says the track was shut down for about 45 minutes after the accident.
