February 22, 2010 – A 49-yeard old man was killed Sunday in a single-car accident on a curvy stretch of SR-67 north of Lakeside, authorities said.
The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes just past Vigilante Road, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
A Heartland Fire dispatcher said there was no other injuries at the scene.
The crash happened on a dangerous stretch of the highway near a concrete quarry where the road curves and ascends into the foothills on the way to Poway.
