February 25, 2010 – A 30-year-old woman who was killed Wednesday evening when she lost control of the SUV she was driving on a 22 freeway off-ramp has been identified.
Lorena Mancinas, from Orange, died at 4:25 on Wednesday, according to the Orange County Coroner’s office.
Mancinas traveled through landscaping, a chain-link fence and a palm tree before landing on Glassell Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Chevrolet Tahoe careened off the freeway off-ramp just before 4:30 p.m., said Officer Gabe Montoya of the California Highway Patrol. The crash left the Tahoe lying on its driver-side doors. Firefighters had to cut the vehicle apart to get to the woman inside.
It was unclear why the vehicle went out of control.
