March 8, 2010 – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash near the Barona Resort & Casino Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision between a pickup truck and minivan happened around 12:20 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road near Muth Valley Road, just south of the Barona Indian Reservation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both directions of Wildcat Canyon Road were closed, the CHP reported.
Catarino Montano Navarro, 62, of Santee, a passenger in the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At least one other was taken to a hospital, a Heartland Fire dispatcher said.
