March 2, 2010 – David Epstein, 87, of Coronado, died Tuesday when his car crashed into the back of a disabled big rig on SR-15 in the Mountain View area.
Epstein was heading north about 11:35 a.m. when his Toyota Camry veered to the right for unknown reasons and hit the parked truck just south of Ocean View Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Epstein died at the scene.
The big-rig driver, who was standing in front of the disabled truck with the hood open, was struck in the crash and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the CHP said.
