A La Quinta man who was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer hauling chemicals on Highway 86 in Riverside last week has been pronounced dead. Jose Gonzalez, 63, was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger when he pulled onto Highway 86 and was struck by the truck. The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. on Friday. The crash happened near Highway 78, south of the Border Patrol checkpoint in Imperial County.
