An 84-year-old man died Wednesday morning as he tried to stop his car as it rolled off a jack. According to authorities, the accident occurred around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Boston Avenue and 38th Street in the Southcrest neighborhood. The man apparently had a Ford sedan up on a jack in an alley when it rolled off. A 22-year-old Oceanside man and a 21-year-old Vista woman were killed Saturday in a head-on accident in Kern County. According to authorities, the man was driving a Ford Explorer on the northbound side of Interstate 5 when it veered through the center median and hit a pickup truck on the southbound side. Four people were injured Wednesday in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 south of Pacific Highway, according to authorities. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway. Among the vehicles involved was a semi-trailer. Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident and were taken to local hospitals. Two others who sustained injuries not life-threatening were also taken to local hospitals. Four people were killed Monday morning when a Toyota Camry attempting to make a pass hit an oncoming Cadillac near Camarillo Airport in Ventura County, according to authorities. Two people were also seriously inured in the accident. Conditions were apparently dark and foggy when the accident occurred. The Camry, which was carrying five men believed to be in their 20s, spun out of control after hitting the Cadillac and wound up in a drainage ditch.
