Two bicyclists suffered serious injuries Friday morning in separate accidents in Scripps Ranch and San Carlos, according to San Diego police. Bryan Caraveo, a 48-year-old Santee resident, was hospitalized with a head injury and 15 broken ribs after being struck by a dump truck on Mission Gorge Road in San Carlos around 6:40 a.m.  Caraveo was wearing a helmet and in the bike lane heading west when he was hit by a dump truck making a left turn. A woman died after being hit by a car Sunday night while crossing Mission Avenue in Oceanside.  The woman was struck while crossing the street at about 10 p.m. by the driver of a 1991 Toyota Corolla heading west near Fireside Street.  The woman was transported by Oceanside Fire Department paramedics and died at the hospital. Bicyclist Struck and Killed By Street Sweeper Identified

A bicyclist who was struck by a street sweeper and killed in Clairemont Friday has been identified as Suntat Peverley, 44, of Mira Mesa.  Mr. Peverley was a lab technician who had worked for UCSD Medical Centerfor more than 10 years.  Mr. Peverley was working as alead phlebotomist at Internal MedicineGroup on La Jolla Village Drive at the time of his death and had worked at other UCSD Medical Center facilities in previous years.  According to colleagues, he was a well-known and well-liked family man with an interest in biking and staying fit. A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night while walking across a street in Clairemont Mesa.  The man was crossing Balboa Avenue near Mount Alifan Drive shortly before 7 p.m. when he was hit.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle did not stop or contact authorities.  Police currently do not have a description of the vehicle. Taxi Driver in Stingaree Crash Released From the Hospital

The taxi driver who plowed into a crowd outside of Stingaree nightclub early Saturday and was subsequently attacked by witnesses has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. Sam Hassan Daly, 52, was released late Tuesday with a bandaged nose and two black eyes.  Local police are investigating the possibility that Daly fell asleep or blacked out when he drove into the crowd.  At least 35 other people were injured in the crash. Surgeons Are Able to Save the Leg of Stingaree Crash Victim

A 45-year-old Encinitas woman who suffered major trauma to her right leg when a taxi plowed into a crowd in front of Stingaree nightclub has undergone two surgeries since the incident early Saturday. The victim, Dominque Gambale’s, right leg was not severed, as indicated in previous reports, but suffered multiple breaks and severe tissue damage.  Ms. Gambale underwent surgery early the morning of the crash, and again Monday morning, according to Dr. Paul Joseph Girard, one of her orthopedic surgeons at UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. A taxi driver who may have passed out or fallen asleep plowed through a crowd on a sidewalk into the popular restaurant and nightclub Stingaree around 2 a.m. on Saturday, injuring more than two dozen people.  All but two victims were taken to area hospitals, and all are expected to survive. An 81-year-old man was struck by a car as he walked across College Avenue Thursday night.  The driver, a 59-year-old woman, was going south around 7 p.m. when she struck the man, who was crossing mid-block near El Cajon Boulevard.  The pedestrian suffered arm and leg injuries and was taken to a hospital. A woman was seriously injured Thursday night after being pinned between two vehicles in a Clairemont Mesa strip mall parking lot, according to police.  The 67-year-old victim suffered injuries to her pelvis and legs, along with internal injuries. The woman was hit around 5:30 p.m. by a PT Cruiser driven by a 65-year-old woman in the parking lot on Ashford Street near Beagle Street.
