Two women and a three-year-old girl were struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while crossing a street in San Marcos. The pedestrians were hit on Tiger Way near Positive Place. The motorist was turning left onto Tiger Way when she struck the two women and the toddler. The women were taken to Palomar Medical Center. The toddler was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital.

11 Injured In Accident At U.S.-Mexico Border

Eleven people suffered injuries Wednesday morning when a wooden overhead canopy at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Ysidro collapsed, causing a closure of the border for much of the day.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when wooden panels, support beams and other debris fell from the canopy onto several cars. Though three people were trapped in their cars and had to be rescued, most of the injuries suffered by the 11 people were believed to be minor, according to authorities.

Exposure to asbestos was a concern at one point and officials tested air quality before restoring access to the area.
