According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), American Food Service, of  Pico Rivera, Calif., is recalling approximately 3,170 pounds of fresh ground beef patties and other bulk packages of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Raynor Marketing Ltd., of West Hempstead, N.Y., has agreed to a civil penalty of $390,000. The Commission has provisionally accepted the penalty agreement. The settlement resolves allegations by CPSC staff that Raynor Marketing Ltd. was aware of a defect in office chairs it sold to consumers, as well incidents and injuries, yet the firm failed to report immediately to CPSC as required by federal law. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of  BT SA-17 Paintball Gun/Markers imported by KEE Action Sports LLC, of Sewell, N.J.  About 1,400 units are affected by the recall.  They were sold at paintball fields/arenas, stores and retailers from May 2010 through August 2010 for about $130.   When users attempt to pierce the CO2 cartridge by closing the lever to the cartridge chamber, the cartridge can fly out of the marker, posing an injury hazard to consumers.  The marker is made of aluminum and resembles a pistol. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Comission has announced a recall of foldaway closet two- and three-step ladders manufactured by Frontgate Closet Ladders.   The ladders can unexpectedly break, posing a fall hazard to consumers.  About 38,000 units are affected by the recall.  The product was sold by Cinmar LLC.  Cinmar has received about 860 reports of the ladders breaking, including 28 reports of injuries such as bruises and lacerations to the knees, shins, ankles and feet. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Honda snowblowers due to risk of fire hazard.  Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.  About 18,500 units are being recalled by American Honda Motor Co. Inc., of Torrance, Calif.   The snowblowers were soldat Honda Power Equipment dealers nationwide from April 2005 through November 2010 for between $2,000 and $3,400. The fuel tank joint and o-ring located on the underside of the fuel tank of the snowblowers can seep or drip fuel over time, posing a fire hazard.  Honda has received 90 reports of fuel either seeping or dripping. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of  STIHL MS 361C chain saws (C-Q version) due to risk of laceration hazard.  The recall affects about 5,000 chainsaws sold at authorized STIHL dealers nationwide from February 2004 through August 2009 for about $640.  The chainsaws were manufactured in the U.S. by STIHL Incorporated of Virginia Beach, Va.  The throttle trigger may stick after it has been released by the operator, which could cause the engine to continue to run at a speed that drives the saw chain. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Whole Foods Market has announced that one of its suppliers, Bravo Farms of Traver, California, recalled the following products due to evidence of Listeria and E. coli contamination at their plant. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Kitchentrend Stainless Steel Carafes.  The handle can come loose from the body of the carafe and cause liquid to spill, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The recall involves about 36,000 Kitchentrend 1-liter stainless steel carafes with model number P0930-X02. The Consumer Protection Safety Commission and MTD Consumer Group Inc., of Cleveland, Ohio has announced a recall of Cub Cadet Utility Vehicles due to a risk of loss of control. The recall involves about 200 units of  MTD’s four wheel drive Cub Cadet Volunteer gasoline-powered utility vehicles sold at Cub Cadet dealers nationwide from April 2010 through September 2010 for between $6,800 and $9,800.  The front lower ball joint can detach and cause a loss of steering control.
