One person was killed after a tow truck crashed into the back of a parked car Thursday morning, authorities said. The crash occurred just before 2 a.m., while the Chevrolet Impala was parked along Springdale Street, said Sgt. J. Haught of the Huntington Beach Police Department’s traffic division. A 77-year-old man and his 13-year-old grandson were sitting in the car just south of McCarthy Street when a 2011 Dodge Ram tow truck crashed into the back of the parked car, according to a statement released by the department. Pamela Hargett, a 52-year-old South Carolina woman, was killed Saturday, May 12th, 2012 in a paragliding accident in the Torrey Pines area of San Diego, officials said. She was an experienced pilot who had trained in San Diego. According to the San Diego County medical examiner, “for unknown reasons, she lost control and crashed into the side of the cliff.” The downed glider came to rest suspended on a cliff near Black’s Beach, said lifeguard Lt. A La Quinta man who was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer hauling chemicals on Highway 86 in Riverside last week has been pronounced dead. Jose Gonzalez, 63, was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger when he pulled onto Highway 86 and was struck by the truck. The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. on Friday. The crash happened near Highway 78, south of the Border Patrol checkpoint in Imperial County. Authorities have identified a motorist who was killed in a crash involving a big rig on the northbound 14 Freeway north of Santa Clarita. The accident occurred south of Escondido Canyon Road, according to authorities. Paul Clark Gillies, 56, of Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene. An 11-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while he was riding his bicycle. The incident occurred near the corner of 10th and Main streets in Ramona. The boy reportedly rode directly into the path of a 1982 Ford pickup truck. The truck struck the boy and he was thrown off of his bicycle landing on the vehicle’s hood. The boy suffered major injuries including a possible broken arm and leg.

A 62 year-old man riding a motorcycle on the 5300 block of Soledad Mountain Road lost control and crashed Wednesday evening. He suffered an open fracture on his right ankle and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The accident is being investigated.

A 3-year-old boy has died after choking on a push-pin at an Oceanside preschool. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office, Tyler Howell of Oceanside died Monday afternoon from accidental asphyxiation. His teacher at Montessori School said the boy gasped and grabbed his neck. He became unresponsive and paramedics were unable to revive him. He died at a hospital.

Six-year-old, Neve Walker, was injured Saturday after being struck by a motorboat while riding on an inner tube. She and her 10-year-old brother were being towed by a SeaDoo going about 15 mph when the boat approached from behind and veered directly into the path of the children on the inner tube. Neve was knocked off the inner tube and run over by the boat. Her brother was not injured. She suffered fractured ribs, a partially collapsed lung and cuts and bruises in the incident.
