February 23, 2010 – According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defect Investigations (ODI), Toyo Tire Holdings Of Americas, Inc. is recalling certain of the following All Terrain tires:  Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrain, size 305/50R20 120S, manufactured from April 19, 2009 through October 17, 2009; and Toyo Open Country A/T and Toyo Proxes ST II, size 305/50R20, manufactured from May 31, 2009 through August 8, 2009 Some of the subject tires may have been produced with a wrinkle in the upper sidewall area of the tires. November 30, 2009 – According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defect Investigations (ODI), Daimler Trucks is recalling certain Model Year 2008 and 2010 Freightliner M2, Custom Chassis, MT55 and Sterling Acterra vehicles manufactured between April 4, 2007 and July 15, 2009, equipped with Cummins ISC CM2150 and ISL CM2150 model diesel engines. November 10, 2009 – A man and a woman in their 60s who were passengers in a sports utility vehicle that rolled down an embankment off I-15 north of Escondido were killed in the single-vehicle wreck. The victims, both from Mexico, were pronounced dead at the scene, said CHP Officer Eric Newbury. Their names were being withheld pending family notification, he said. October 7, 2009 – A blowout caused an SUV to overturn yesterday, killing an 85-year-old Adelanto woman, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s officials. Hattie Kaufman died at the scene of the 3:43 p.m. accident Wednesday at Mojave and Mesa Linda Drives. Kaufman was a passenger in the 2001 Ford SUV when the right rear tire popped, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times, ejecting Kaufman, witnesses told investigators. City Heights man dies in crash near Ramona

September 29, 2009 – A 51-year-old City Heights man was found dead near Ramona on a rural road where he crashed his car into a large boulder, authorities said today. The single-vehicle crash on Mussey Grade Road near Kimball Valley Road in the Fernbrook area was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday, when the wreckage was discovered, according to the California Highway Patrol. Five injured in crash on I-8 near Alpine

Five people were injured Tuesday, September 8, 2009, when a tire tread separated on the Ford Explorer they were traveling in, causing the SUV to roll over several times on Interstate 8 near Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 36-year-old driver from Ensenada, Mexico was heading westbound about 3:25 p.m. when the tire tread separated, causing him to lose control of the SUV, according to the CHP. Car hits bus on Route 76, injuring two

Two people were injured when a car driving eastbound on Route 76 drifted into the westbound lane and struck a North County Transit District Bus.  The driver of the car suffered major injuries to his left leg, and one passenger aboard the bus suffered minor injuries. Firestone Tire Recall

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC is recalling 127,183 defective tires.  The recalled tires are Firestone FR380 tires, size P235/75R15, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The tires were manufactured from September 9, 2007 through July 2, 2008. The recalled tires were produced with insufficient tread base gauge, NHTSA said. Continued use of the tires may lead to vibration and groove cracking. In addition, extended use could lead to tread distortion or tread separation and loss of vehicle control, NHTSA said. Kumho Tire USA is recalling 36,292 light truck tires because of the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The recalled tires are Kumho Mohave A/T light truck all terrain tires, sizes LT225/75R16, LT245/75R16, and LT265/75R16.  The tires were produced between December 7, 2008 and June 13, 2009. Cooper Tire Recall

Cooper Tire is recalling some of its Cooper CS4 Touring (VR)  tires because the tread could separate from the tires, resulting in a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  The recalled tires are size 215/55R17, produced between September 7 and October 11, 2008.  These tires may not have cured for an adequate period of time.  Improperly cured tires can lead to tread separation.  Cooper will replace the tires free of charge.
