A judicial panel on Multidistrict Litigation is expected to hear arguments on Thursday, November 18 regarding a motion to consolidate De Puy hip recall cases. The hearing is scheduled to take place in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Car Crashes Into Tree in East County Injuring One

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Munchkin, Inc.’s Bathtub Subs bath toys.  Around 34,000 units are being recalled.  The intake valve on the bottom of the submarine toy can suck up loose skin, posing laceration hazard to children while using the toys.  19 incidents of lacerations to boys’ genital areas have been reported.   The toys were sold at mass merchandise retail stores nationwide and children’s stores nationwide from November 2009 through September 2010 for about $7. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Ryobi Model HP 1802M Cordless Power Drills.  Around 455,000 drills are being recalled.  The drills are manufactured by Ryobi Technologies Inc., of Anderson, S.C. and were sold at Home Depot stores from January 2001 to July 2003 for about $100. The switch on the cordless drill can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.  The company has received 47 reports of the drills overheating, smoking, melting or catching fire, including property damage and minor burns.  Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled drill and remove the rechargeable battery. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs manufactured by Eastern America Trio Products Inc. of Flushing, N.Y.  124,000 units have been recalled as the light bulbs can overheat and catch fire.  The firm has received four reports of incidents, including two fires that resulted in property damage.  This recall involves Trisonic 15-, 20-, 22- and 25-watt compact fluorescent light bulbs with the model numbers TS-EN 15W/SP, TS-EN 20W/SP, TS-CFL 22WB or TS-EN 25W/SP printed on the base of the bulb.  The bulbs were sold at discount stores from January 2008 to December 2008 for between $1 …. » Read more »

Four people were injured on Wednesday following a high speed police chase in North County.  Two were seriously injured when the sedan being chased by police lost control and collided with another vehicle. San Diego Man Claims He Was Fired Over Hairstyle

San Diego resident, Abdul Jabbar Gbajiamilla,  claimed he was fired because of his hairstyle, and now he’s suing his former employer, Abercrombie & Fitch, for race discrimination. Gbajiamilla claims he received remarks and investigation about his hairstyle from his managers shortly before being fired. This isn’t the first time Abercrombie & Fitch has been accused of racial discrimination. In 2004, the company paid a $40 million settlement and was ordered to create a corporate diversity plan. Two men were killed Tuesday when a car careened off the curved transition from southbound Interstate 5 to state Route 54, went airborne and landed upside down about 100 feet below on northbound Interstate 5. Both of the victims were sailors in the Navy, said Brian O’Rourke, a spokesman for Navy Region Southwest. No further  information is being released about the victims at this time. One died at the scene. The other died shortly after being taken to UCSD Medical Center.
