June 1, 2010 — A 25-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning and two others were injured when her SUV crossed into oncoming freeway traffic and collided with two vehicles. Neydi Arely Ramirez, of Chula Vista, was heading north on state Route 125 north of Jamacha Road about 8:40 a.m. when for unknown reasons she lost control of her gold Ford Explorer and crossed the center divide, authorities said. June 6, 2010 — A 52-year-old man from Fresno was hit and killed early Sunday in Midtown. The victim was crossing the West Washington Street on-ramp to north Interstate 5 about 12:30 a.m. when he was struck, the California Highway Patrol said. The man was declared dead at the scene, the CHP said. The driver of the vehicle stopped. No arrests were made, the CHP said. The name of the victim has not been released. Read more »

March 11, 2010 – Six people were injured in a multi-car crash on southbound I-805 just north of Market Street early Thursday morning and investigators say at least one of the drivers may have been intoxicated. The chain-reaction of accidents began shortly before 2 a.m. when a vehicle pulled over with a flat tire and another vehicle hit it, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ray Scheidnes. Several other accidents followed, blocking all but the No. 3 lane of the freeway. March 10, 2010 – Three people were killed Tuesday evening, including a father and daughter, during a head-on collision east of Hemet. Donald Graves, 30, of Hemet, was driving his Chevy Malibu eastbound on Florida Avenue, just east of Warren Road, at 5 p.m. when the car drifted into the opposite lane striking a Honda Accord, California Highway Patrol spokesman Chris Blondon said. March 8, 2010 – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash near the Barona Resort & Casino Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said. The collision between a pickup truck and minivan happened around 12:20 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road near Muth Valley Road, just south of the Barona Indian Reservation, according to the California Highway Patrol. March 2, 2010 – David Epstein, 87, of Coronado, died Tuesday when his car crashed into the back of a disabled big rig on SR-15 in the Mountain View area. March 1, 2010 – A San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy trying to catch up to a wrong-way driver on a freeway was killed when his marked SUV rolled several times down a ravine on SR-52, Sheriff William Gore said Sunday. Deputy Ken Collier, 39, died at a hospital shortly after the 3:22 a.m. wreck on the freeway in the mountains between Santee and Tierrasanta, the sheriff announced. March 1, 2010 – Two people suffered major injuries last night during a fiery wreck along Interstate 40 deep in the Mojave Desert, according to California Highway Patrol officers. Flames fully engulfed the green Nissan Pathfinder soon after the single-car crash at 10:44 p.m. Sunday along the freeway’s eastbound lanes near Kelbaker Road. Larry Swisher, 33, and Luz Castillo, both of Arizona, were airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center. There’s no word on the type of injuries they suffered. Read more »
