March 1, 2010 – A pedestrian suffered severe injuries last night when he was struck by two vehicles, including a sheriff’s patrol car, in the High Desert city of Apple Valley, according San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials. The victim was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton following the 8 p.m. accident Sunday along Highway 18 near Kiowa Road. The pedestrian was carrying no identification, investigators said. His condition is not available. February 22, 2010 – A driver suspected of hitting and killing a woman on her way to work Friday was arrested at his Encanto home Saturday. Officers arrested Bruce Hanson, 51, who is to be booked on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, said San Diego Police Sgt. Steve Waldeim. February 16, 2010 – A Caltrans driver, allegedly drunk behind the wheel, slammed a company vehicle into an apartment in Julian. According to witnesses, around 1 p.m. Friday, Caltrans maintenance engineer, Christopher Trachta, 49, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run charges after causing an accident off Highway 78. CHP investigators said previous to the accident in Julian, Trachta hit a residential fence in the East County, and left the scene before investigators got there. February 12, 2010 – Four Manhattan Beach police officers are on leave while investigators determine if there was a cover-up of a hit-and-run crash that may have involved officers. Police Chief Rod Uyeda said Thursday that a driver who may have been drunk caused a three-car crash on January 31 that caused minor injuries. February 11, 2010 – Investigators say a 27-year-old San Diego woman who was struck and killed early Sunday morning on I-805 in National City had been socializing with friends at a nearby bar about a half-hour before her body was found. December 10, 2009 – A faulty power strip sparked a Linda Vista apartment fire Wednesday, leaving four people in need of interim lodging, authorities reported. The non-injury blaze in the 6700 block of Kelly Street was reported just before 1 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFRD).
