February 16, 2010 – Bogus roofers are scamming elderly mobile home residents in Oceanside, police said Monday. There have been three reported incidents in which men solicit roofing repair work at mobile home parks, go up onto the roof for about a half-hour, and then present bills inflated by $800 to $1,000, police said. When the resident protests, the suspects lower their price by a couple of hundred dollars to an amount that the victims agree to pay. Police said no work was performed. November 3, 2009 – Bug spray that produces a fog to kill insects is likely to blame for the death of a 10-month-old South Carolina boy, and his 2-year-old brother was critically injured by the fumes, authorities said Monday. Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said the boys’ mother had been using foggers in their single-wide mobile home in Williamston, in the northwest part of the state, because of an insect problem.
