December 10, 2009 – Cal Fire investigators arrested the owner of a Temecula eatery Wednesday, according to Fire Captain Fernando Herrera. Rafael Chavez, 54, owner of the 7 Mares Restaurant was arrested for arson after investigators believed there was suspicious activity at the 29000 Old Town Front Street location. Surveillance at the business found Chavez leaving the restaurant and a fire erupting within minutes, according to Cal Fire reports. Reports said Chavez was taken into custody without incident and was arrested. He is booked at the Southwest Detention Center on charges of arson to a structure, the reports said. Those …. »

December 7, 2009 – Two people died when their car went out of control and struck a tree, a crash that was apparently alcohol-related, an Escondido Police lieutenant said. A male and female were found dead inside the vehicle around 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East El Norte Parkway, Lt. Chris Wynn said. November 30, 2009 – A roll-over accident killed a 42-year-old Temecula motorist last night when he rolled a 1968 Jeep down an embankment, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s officials. Timothy Kleinman died at the scene of the 9:52 p.m. wreck Sunday along the 33000 block of Camino Piedra Rojo. Kleinman was speeding in a southwesterly direction when the Jeep left the roadway and landed on its right side, Sgt. Mark Leggett said in a written statement. The victim was the Jeep’s only occupant. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected, according to the statement.

November 11, 2009 – A 22-year-old man was arrested early this morning after striking a woman at a Temecula bar, severely injuring her ear, authorities said. Police were called out to the bar in the 27000 block of Ynez Road about 12:30 a.m. where they found that a woman had been struck with a “glass object,” causing major injuries to her head, a Temecula Police Department news release said. November 2, 2009 – David Flores Barraza Jr., 49, of Riverside died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car this weekend in Temecula, according to the Riverside County coroner. The collision occurred about 2:40 Sunday on southbound Pala Temecula Road approximately a mile south of Rancho Heights Road. Barraza was transported to a high school football field at 32555 Deer Hollow Way in Temecula to be airlifted but died prior to transportation, police said.
