Product Recalls
Each year thousands of products in the U.S. are recalled due to dangers to consumers. Product liability law involves liability of a manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer of a dangerous or defective product. Product liability lawsuits may arise from any type of product, including food, drugs, toys, household appliances, seat belts, automobiles, tobacco, and so on. Every year, Americans are injured or killed by products that were either poorly designed, poorly manufactured, or were improperly labeled. The National Consumer Product Safety Commission has a list of recalled products ranging from fireplaces to candles to lawnmowers. In August 2006 alone, the NCPSC initiated over 35 product recalls.
